What Inspires Our Vibe
Staying true to our roots—that’s been our goal since 2009. We opened our first location in McLean (also pictured at the top of this page), as a ‘family project.’ We restored, cleaned, and painted an old ice cream shop. Wanting to preserve the quaint charm of a neighborhood relic, we traveled to local antique shops and farms, searching for unique items to decorate our interior. Not only does our food come from local farms, but much of our interior, from the wood used for our tables and counters to the signs we hang, also comes from local sources.

In October 2023, we refreshed our N Quincy St location, so come check out our new outdoor seating, updated interior, and, as always, the freshest menu in town. It was a pretty big risk for us when we chose to open in Ballston. Being a local family-owned restaurant, surrounded by national and corporate giants, wasn’t ideal. Lucky for us, the neighborhood really took to our unique style and menu. Being across from Mosaic Park was a bonus.

Courthouse
This location was in the middle of an area considered cursed by some in the industry due to a string of failed restaurants. We really didn’t care as we just fell in love with this oddly shaped space. We opened our doors in June of 2013, right across the street from the Courthouse Metro entrance, in the building that oddly resembles the distinctive triangular shape of the Flatiron Building. This wedge-shaped building is located at the intersection of Wilson Blvd and Clarendon Blvd across from the Government Center.

In 2009, local natives of McLean, Arita and Andre Matini, co-founders of Sweet Leaf, opened their first Sweet Leaf just a couple of miles from their high school. Restoring, cleaning, and painting an old ice cream shop while preserving the quaint charm of a neighborhood relic, this location is considered our flagship.

Date Night, family dinner, or lunch with friends? Ranging from comfortable and casual to grab and go, we’ve got you covered! This location is at the very sophisticated Reston Metro Station off Wiehle Ave in the BLVD Apartment building. After grabbing something to satisfy your craving, enjoy yoga on the plaza, a local band, or even a trampoline fitness class—all for free! Check The Reston Station site for dates and events, and come by Sweet Leaf to get some awesome grub!

Since we started Sweet Leaf as a family project, it was only natural for us to dub Vienna as the ‘lil sister. Our most loved and definitely the cutest Sweet Leaf in our opinion. This location has a little bit of everything that makes a Sweet Leaf special. It might have a small footprint but it’s got a huge heart and lots of support from our Vienna neighbors. Come by to enjoy our outdoor patio or the tables by the floor-to-ceiling windows for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

This store is a hidden gem located in the heart of DC. Located on the 15th Street NW side of the Midtown Center plaza. One of our most challenging lay outs for a Sweet Leaf. Our interior integrates with the environment using a glass storefront and open ceilings, blending industrial architecture with modern farmhouse vibes.
